Smart marketers aim to dominate marketing channels. They do not play follow the leader… and select a marketing channel based on popularity.
If everyone is primarily digital in 2022, and hardly no one is using direct mail, then a smart marketer would run experiments to try to win it, while their competitors are not using it.
Winning is obtaining traction. Traction is proof or return on ad spend and customer acquisition.
Traction can be scaled into more customers and revenue. I believe direct mail is a channel that can still be won and scaled with the right strategy.
